I was preparing to tuck myself into bed to finish the remaining chapters of Jon-Krakauer’s ‘Into The Wild‘… or not. I power on my Kindle and in place of the usual menu screen is the above horrifying image. Franticly browsing the FAQ section on Amazon’s website I learned that ‘Kindle showing lines on screen’ is a known problem.
As the Kindle has been traveling from DUB to BHX in my padded backpack for an ample span of yesterday, I’m almost certain it was in a reasonably safe place. However the pattern of lines on the damaged E Ink screen eerily resemble a cracked LCD display. So I’m having doubts about the cause of my Kindle’s casualty…
